How to determine who manufactured your window wells

Boman-Kemp wells are used in almost all new(er) construction with metal wells including Richmond, DR Horton, Lennar, Shea, Shea 3D, Dream Finders, Express, Toll Brothers, Oakwood, Meritage, Journey, Century, Landmark, LGI, Horizon View, Brookfield, KB Home, Tri Pointe, McStain, St. Aubyn, Boulder Creek, &  Remington.

In your well, locate the black sticker and look below it for a stamp. The first 4 numbers are the size of the well. We need that number and the physical measurement across the back closest to the foundation. Be sure to check all windows. Most builders use multiple sizes in their floor plans.

If there is not a black sticker, check the front of the well for a sticker. Even in you only see remnants of a the sticker, you have a Stif Back II well. Take rough measurements. We will know what size you will need.

If you haven’t spotted either of these items, measure the well’s width at the foundation and note the lip. Monarch’s top rolls to the inside of the wells and Boman-Kemp’s will have a rubber edge or a pinched edge (see photo on right).

Look at these photos and see which one most resembles the shape of your wells.

In some instances the metal well used in your home may not be from one of these manufacturers or may be discontinued. Don’t worry. Let’s talk about your options. Most of the time, we have a standard grate for another well that will fit or we can discuss options for for custom grates.

We deliver standard pre-fabricated grates along the Front Range from Fort Collins to Castle Rock. Want to know if you are in our service area?
